Bachelor of Sports Business
These days, sport is a business – so for those who seek a management career based in and around sport, the industry-recognised training is a must. In Australia the sector has transitioned from being largely semi-professional to its current status as a multimillion-dollar corporate industry. A major competitor in the entertainment and leisure markets, sports management is a global field in which Australians have earned an enviable reputation for excellence.
ACPE is helping to build that reputation by delivering an innovative degree, taught by lecturers with demonstrated real-world expertise to their credit. As an emerging discipline, ACPE's Bachelor of Sports Business brings concentrated focus to the commercial aspects of the sports industry.
The course involves learning about how sports businesses operate, with particular emphasis on marketing, management, and administration. Learning outcomes are maximised by the degree’s structure, which tests student’s skills and knowledge in order to emphasise the professional judgement necessary to succeed in the sports sector.
Major study areas –
The course program is divided into six semesters, each of 12 weeks duration. Study involves approximately 16 contact hours a week, (excluding examination and study weeks).
Core studies occupy the first two years of the degree program and incorporate Sports Commerce, Sports Management, and Sport in its Social Context. Third year students then elect to major in Sports Commerce, Sports Marketing, or in the emerging area of Lifestyle Management.
The Associate Degree serves as an exit point from the degree after two years (the core studies component) – students graduate with an Associate Degree in Sports Business.
