This personal training course is designed to equip students with the specific knowledge to start their career as a professional sports trainer.

This personal training course is provided by the Australian Institute of Applied Sciences (NTIS Code: 5806), a leading Registered Training Organisation which offers nationally recognised diplomas and certificates in natural health, massage, beauty and fitness.

Description

Certificate III in Fitness provides the skills and knowledge for you to be competent in a range of activities and functions requiring autonomous work within a defined range of exercise instruction situations and activities.

Core subjects included in this personal training course -

  • Provide fitness orientation and health screening
  • Provide quality service in the fitness industry
  • Develop and apply an awareness of specific populations to exercise delivery
  • Apply First Aid
  • Apply anatomy and physiology principles in a fitness context
  • Provide healthy eating information to clients in accordance with recommended guidelines
  • Maintain sport and recreation equipment for activities
  • Work effectively in sport and recreation environments
  • Follow occupational health and safety policies
  • Undertake risk analysis of activities

Course Structure

Certificate III in Fitness is a 6 week program, divided into six strands -
  • Introduction to Fitness

  • Fitness Instruction

  • Fitness Anatomy and Physiology

  • Fitness Assessment Programing 1

  • Nutrition

  • Sport and Fitness Law

Study classes will run every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6-9pm

Course Outcomes

Course outcomes will depend on the elective grouping chosen and may include providing exercise instruction for groups or gym programs.

Students can undertake work in a number of locations such as -  

  • Gyms

  • Fitness and community facilities

  • Outdoor environments

Start your personal training career in a rapidly growing industry

At the completion of Certificate III in Fitness, students are qualified to work as group exercise trainer (working on the floor). Many students launch their personal trainer careers while undertaking Certificate IV studies as it opens up many more career pathways.
