The fitness industry is one of the fastest growing fields in Australia. It has traditionally required VET qualifications, however there is now an emerging need for fitness professionals with higher level qualifications.
This course was designed by professional fitness association members, providers of current VET industry qualifications and academics with real experience in the industry. The degree is divided into one of four strands: Fitness Studies, Fitness Science, Practical Applications of Fitness, and Professional Skill Development.
Theory and practice combine as you study motivation and learning, ethics, communication and administration all balanced by the hard yards of practical training. This superior qualification will give you a huge advantage in lucrative growth areas like corporate health, special needs training, fitness writing and presenting. It can also open doors to further study and research in fitness and health related areas.
You'll study a diverse range of relevant subjects including fitness management, health promotion and fitness improvement strategies for the general population and special needs groups. Graduates also gain a sound understanding of the science of fitness and exercise in the areas of human anatomy, kinesiology, nutrition and physiology to balance their professional skills.

The unique structure of this course integrates VET fitness qualifications into a higher education degree.
The Bachelor of Applied Fitness can be completed with three years of full-time study. A maximum of eight years is allowed for students to complete the degree part-time. The degree program is divided into six semesters, each of 12 weeks teaching duration. Study involves approximately 17 contact hours a week excluding examination and study weeks.

This degree was launched in 2009 and therefore has no direct graduate employers. However prospective students will benefit from the College's long history of quality graduates securing employment in the fitness industry.
