I fell in love with Rouse Hill Anglican College after I completed my 4th Prac at the College in 2007. I loved the College environment; the staff, the students and as a place for growth. The College is only six years old but has great potential to mature into a well defined and well sustained place for a promising long career. Thus the college is expanding in two directions, both student population and construction.
As a creator, I saw an opportunity to produce a dance program both curricular and extracurricular within the College. I was creating a safe and supported environment that offered the students opportunities in dance performance, dance composition and dance appreciation. To achieve my aim for dance to grow within the College, I run an extra six classes a week in musical theatre, jazz and contemporary. These classes also include a senior performance team, a primary performance team and a staff dance class. At the end of the year all routines will be performed in a "showcase" evening. Family and friends are invited to share in the enjoyment of the performance. Students proudly deliver their routines they have been working on throughout the year.
I commenced work with the College at the beginning of the year, just teaching year seven through year ten dance students. Following teaching I was also the creator for the College's Performance Team. The Performance Team consists of thirty-five students which meet on Thursday for rehearsal. Our next major event is with Eisteddfod in September- the interest generated from the team is outstanding!
Recently, I have accepted a new full-time position requiring the focus of teaching year seven through eleven PDHPE and year ten dance elective.
My love and passion for teaching grows everyday and I am sincerely grateful for what I do. I believe: passion, dedication and commitment are key factors in becoming a unique and inspirational teacher. I thank ACPE for providing a place where I was able to discover those qualities which have since laid the pathways to my career. Teaching is a gift- a rewarding occupation impacting and constructing children's lives forever. No matter how old you are, inspirational teachers are rarely forgotten.
