After completing my HSC, I began studying at ACPE. Coming from Wollongong, it was a difficult decision to make due to the travel, but overall it was the best career move that I ever made.
After the completion of my third year (Bachelor of Physical Education) I continued into my 4th year of study (Bachelor of Education), whilst combining casual work within a number of schools in the Illawarra. In 2004 I was offered a full time permanent position at Illawarra Sports High School. My role at Illawarra Sports High School is quite diverse, I not only teach 7-10 PDHPE but teach an elective course in year 10 and Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation in Yr 11. Part of my faculty responsibility is coordinating the year 7 PDHPE curriculum and planning assessment tasks. I am also the co-ordinator of the school's cross country.
As a teacher at a Sports High School, I am also involved in extra curricular activities in particular the Targeted Sports Program. My role includes coaching and co-ordinating the Basketball Program for 40 elite athletes. Our men's open team is ranked 6th in Australia and our women's team is ranked 9th.
Coaching also plays a major role in my life after school. I coach at a number of state and local representative levels including; U'18 NSW National Basketball Championships, NSW Intensive Training Centre Program, NSW Aussie Hoops Basketball Holiday clinics and U'8 Saturday Morning basketball clinics.
But the fun doesn't end there, I am also I current member of the Illawarra Kitty Hawks Open Women's ABA team that competes in the Waratah Conference.
Besides basketball and teaching I do have a life. In my spare time I enjoy traveling. I recently returned from an overseas trip to America and Europe, and in the not too distance future may take up international teaching.
In the future I can see myself developing my CV with the aim of becoming a Head Teacher, but then again I would just be happy to win lotto and travel the world.
