Reference and Research
The collection supports the teaching programs of the college. In addition to the print and audiovisual collections, the library provides access to a range of online information resources for staff and students, including online databases, journals and eBooks. Access to the online databases and other electronic resources by members of the public is dependent upon licence agreements with our resource providers. Members of the public should ask library staff for advice on the use of these resources when at the library.
Professional staff are available to provide advice to clients regarding their reference and research needs.
Information Literacy & Database Training
The library is committed to providing Information Literacy Skills sessions to support and enable staff and students to effectively identify, locate, and retrieve information for research, teaching and, study needs. Training sessions for all first year students are included in the academic timetable and are compulsory. Training for academic staff is arranged on an as-needed basis.
Whilst training is not offered to the general public, professional staff are available to advise and assist clients with all reference and research enquiries.
Borrowing
Borrowing privileges for students and staff of ACPE are outlined in the ACPE Staff Library Use Policy and the Library Student Loans & Resource Access Policy. It is a condition of library membership for staff and students that they be aware of, respect, and comply with all library policies and procedures.
Requests for borrowing privileges from college alumni and members of the public involved in personal research will be considered. Special arrangements are in place for the NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS). Library use policies for NSWIS can be found on our website under Library Policies.
Reserve & e-Reserve
The Reserve [print] and e-Reserve [electronic] services are available to provide effective access to course materials and readings that are in heavy demand. These services are available to staff and students of the college only and cannot be accessed by members of the public.
Computing Lab and Photocopying Facilities
Two computer labs are provided for the convenience of library users and may be used by members of the public for research purposes. Photocopying, printing, and scanning facilities are available within the library. Photocopying and printing is charged at a rate of 11 cents per copy.
