The Academic Development Office (ADO) is a resource centre for academic and career-related skills that are essential to professional development and success. ADO staff are committed to helping students maximise academic potential
Programs begin during Orientation Week to aid the transition to a tertiary-level environment, and regular workshops are conducted throughout semester. These workshops offer training in a range of skills, such as essay writing, academic reading, studying, time management, and verbal presentation.
ADO staff are on campus daily. It is recommended that students organise a personal consultation with a member of the Academic Development team.
Additionally, students from all disciplines and year levels are encouraged to use SkillZone, an online learning resource that features useful links, suggested texts, downloads, worksheets and writing guides, and information about plagiarism and other major issues that pertain to student learning.
Students also have access to SMARTTHINKING – an online service that gives students 24 hour access to academic tutors and resources. Students can also receive personalised feedback on assessment tasks from academics.
