Student Services

ACPE is proud of its strong sense of college community. Our Student Services department is responsible for providing services and activities that encourage interaction between students, and help them to maximise their enjoyment of college life. Student Services staff are based on campus and are available throughout the week to assist students in any way they can.

Services offered to students include:

Counselling Service

ACPE is committed to the health and wellbeing of students.  The ACPE counselling service operates on a weekly basis throughout the year.  The counsellor is available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  The counsellor can help you with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, relationship and family issues, grief and loss, exam and study stress, and general support.  Please contact counsellor@acpe.edu.au for appointments and further information.

Special consideration

ACPE is aware that personal issues may impact upon a student’s capacity to study and complete required assessment tasks in a semester. When such issues arise, our support facilities offer help, hope, and encouragement.

The Student Representative Group (SRG)

The SRG gives students another opportunity to build their leadership skills. Members are elected from the student body with the aim of having representatives from each year and degree group. Student Services meets with the SRG each fortnight to discuss news and information that should be passed to students. Conversely, the SRG serves as an important voice for the student body.

Career guidance

ACPE Student Services is here to help you understand and develop your future career. Student services and our Professional experience office offer you career skills development sessions covering career planning, resumé writing, networking, presentation and communication skills.

Orientation Week falls immediately prior to the first week of classes. O-Week is designed to help ease the transition into college life and:

Accommodation

Most students in Sydney will live locally with family, use home stay accommodation or rent share accommodation.

Home stay accommodation costs around AU$135–AU$185 per week on average. If you plan to rent in Sydney, make sure you allow for a rental bond equal to 4 to 6 weeks rent. Weekly rental costs vary with location and quality. Rental rates may range from AU$100 to AU$250 per week. You'll also find hostel accommodation from AU$100 to AU$200 per week.

Utilities (electricity, gas, water etc) will cost you about AU$10 per week plus connection fees if you are renting on your own.

Travel Costs

We're a short walk from the Olympic Park train station and bus stops. Parking is available on-site and nearby for AU$150 per semester. If you are travelling by public transport you should allow at least AU$25–AU$60 each week.
