Career Development Services

The ACPE Careers Development Services (CDS) are committed and passionate about supporting all ACPE students with their career development journey. We aim to maximise students’ career opportunities by providing specialist services, and activities and resources that ensure all graduates complete their degrees with a competitive edge in the marketplace. 

Your career journey starts on the very first day that you start your studies. At ACPE you will be exposed to a variety of initiatives and programs which will help you develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to suceed and ensure you are career ready upon graduation. Our CDS team assists students with career direction and planning on an individual basis, or for students who know exactly where they are heading, we can assist with marketing your skills and experience to potential employers. Career Coaching is designed to help students with many aspects of their career journey. Duinr these sessions students can access one to one help with individual planning through discussing your interests, experience and goals. Reviewing your applications (resume, cover letters and responses), advice on developing your linked in profile and providing interview practice when the time comes. 

All ACPE students are expected to make an appointment so that our team can really get to know you and your ambitions. Please note, due to COVID19, person-to-person meetings are limited to designated time slots and days. Online meetings are available and will be held via zoom. We would love to hear about your interests, answer your questions and assist you with your career goals!

Through the ACPE Careers Hub students can apply for a wide range of exclusive opportunities and receive support from the CDS Team throughout the whole process. From getting your resume up to scratch to running a mock interview, The CDS Team is here to support all ACPE students, 

ACPE has a We have wide network of industry partnerships both around Olympic Park and the wider community. We will be promoting opportunities with leading organisation such as Sport NSW, AusDance NSW, GWS Giants, Athletics NSW, Sports Medicine Australia, Sydney Thunder, Hockey NSW, NSW Institute of Sport, Bring it on Sports, Belgravia Leisure and many more.  

All students will need to register for the ACPE Careers Hub in order to view and apply for our industry experience opportunities. Your time is now!  

The ACPE Careers Team has created a wide range of online resources that are available for all ACPE students via the Career development section on the LMS. We strongly suggest all students access these resources and begin to build their knowledge and around key career related topics. The ACPE CDS Resource library includes material on:

The ACPE Careers Team has created Three Online Career Starter Modules to educate all students about various career related topics. We recommend you complete all three modules before seeking assistance from the team. These modules have been specifically created to assist you with your resume, cover letter and selection criteria. These modules are designed for all students, no matter how many internships, jobs or voluntary positions you have held or completed in the past. By completing these modules, you will be increasing your knowledge and understanding of three key topics that are central to career development. The online career modules will prepare you well for when you are back on campus and ready to get involved with the ACPE Industry Experience program.

The Modules are available in the career development section of the LMS. 

ACPE has an extensive range of industry partners around Sydney Olympic Park and the wider community, allowing ACPE students to learn from leading industry professionals and to create an invaluable professional network. The CDS team are here to assist students in their journey of professional development and to secure employment in the sports, health, fitness, education and the performing arts industry. From day one the CDS team will help you kick-start you career, there will be a range of internships, volunteer and paid work opportunities available to all ACPE students. We encourage all students to get started in their first year to start developing professional skills and building their own professional networks. 

The ACPE CDS Team create and deliver the ACPE Careers Q&A webinar series to you every other Wednesday during the semester. The Careers Q&A series is a great opportunity for students to learn and hear from leading industry professionals, hear a wide range of personal experiences from current staff, Students and alumni.

Creating a professional network is essential to succeeding and achieving your career dreams. Our CDS understand that life gets busy and work hard to bring the employers and opportunities to you by running career fairs, conferences and guest speaker. In person activities are currently on hold due to COVID 19, so Stay posted for digital opportunities.

ACPE, Sport NSW and the NSW Office of Sport have collaborated to create the Timeout Talks #unitedforsports webinar series. In 2020, with timeout being called on sport, this webinar series was delivered to keep our sporting community connected and united.
