ACPE was a solid foundation of study which helped me progress in my career firstly as a teacher, then to a business owner as I developed my own children's edutainment DVD, CD and live show "Kids Life", co-author a published book to assist with keeping kids trim and healthy and finally onto TV presenting and producing of my own fitness, wellness and travel show, Feel Good TV.
To become a PE Teacher you typically have to study education at University, specialising in physical education, health and movement.
PE Teaching can be an extremely rewarding and enjoyable career. Among undertaking general teaching tasks and practical activities, PE Teachers are expected to enjoy and be good at physical activity. A Physical Education Teacher must also be enthusiastic and exhibit strong communication skills in order to motivate and train students to perform the physical activities as well as having fun performing those tasks. Possessing a passion to work with children is important, since working with young people can be a demanding task.
Most Physical Education Teachers work in Primary and Secondary schools and are usually qualified to teach at least one other subject. Employment prospects are positive for both Primary and Secondary School Teachers in Australia, with employment expected to grow. People with qualifications in physical education may also be employed in the leisure industry as a Health or Sports Officer in recreation centres.

Note: From 2016 all Initial Teacher Education students are required to pass the Government implemented literacy and numeracy test (LANTITE) prior to their final professional experience placement. Students must successfully complete the final professional experience placement to satisfy for the requirements for the Bachelor of Education (PHE) course.
This test is administered by ACER, not the Australian College of Physical Education. There is a cost associated with taking this external test. The fee for both test components (literacy test and numeracy test) in 2017 is $185 (GST inclusive). The fee for a single test component (literacy test or numeracy test) in 2017 is $92.50 (GST inclusive).
